UGC NET 2026
Re-Exam
September Dates

The National Testing Agency has announced that the UGC NET June 2026 exam will be reconducted for three subjects — English, Commerce, and Sociology — after multiple errors were found in the original question papers. Candidates who appeared for these specific subjects need to re-appear on the new scheduled dates.

This affects only candidates in these three subjects — if you appeared for any other UGC NET subject, your original June result stands and this does not apply to you.

Re-Exam Schedule

SubjectDate & Shift
English9 September 2026, Shift 1 (9 AM – 12 Noon)
Commerce9 September 2026, Shift 2 (3 PM – 6 PM)
Sociology10 September 2026, Shift 1 (9 AM – 12 Noon)

Always cross-check your individual admit card once released — shift timings can occasionally vary by exam city.

What Affected Candidates Should Do

  1. Check if you're affected — only candidates who appeared for English, Commerce, or Sociology in the June 2026 cycle need to re-appear
  2. Watch for the new admit card — NTA will release a fresh admit card for the re-exam; your old June admit card is not valid for this sitting
  3. Same exam centre isn't guaranteed — always download and check the new admit card rather than assuming your previous centre applies
  4. No fresh application needed — this is an NTA-initiated correction, not a new registration cycle

Looking Ahead — UGC NET December 2026 Cycle

Separately from this re-exam, the regular UGC NET December 2026 session notification is expected in the first week of October 2026, with the exam itself likely in December 2026 or January 2027. If you're planning for the next full cycle rather than the re-exam, start eligibility and syllabus prep now — the application window historically stays open only 3–4 weeks.
