Admission Ahead
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the AISSEE 2027 notification in September–October 2026 for admission to Class 6 and Class 9 across 33 existing Sainik Schools and 19 newly established ones nationwide. Sainik Schools are residential institutions under the Ministry of Defence, known for discipline, leadership training, and preparing students for future careers in the Indian Armed Forces.
With the notification expected soon, this is the right time for parents and students to start preparation and understand the eligibility, exam pattern, and admission process.

Exam Pattern by Class
- Class 6 (300 marks): Mathematics, English, General Knowledge (Science & Social Studies), Language, Intelligence
- Class 9 (400 marks): Mathematics, English, Intelligence, General Science, Social Studies (History & Geography)
Seat Reservation Policy
- 15% seats reserved for SC candidates
- 33% seats for candidates from other states/UTs (unfilled seats merge with home state quota)
- 25% seats reserved for children of Defence personnel, including ex-servicemen
- Both boys and girls are eligible for Class 6; Class 9 eligibility varies by individual school policy
Selection Process
- AISSEE Written Exam — OMR-based, conducted offline
- E-Counselling — based on merit rank and school preferences
- Medical Fitness Test — mandatory final stage before confirmed admission
